Wood fiber · Zero landfill

Mulch, Boiler Fuel, Biomass & Animal Bedding

Every board that leaves our yard leaves as something useful. The wood we cannot turn back into a pallet goes out to become mulch, animal bedding and biomass fuel. None of it is buried.

  • Broken pallets in, clean wood fiber out

Here for mulch or bedding? We are where it comes from, not where you buy it.

Gruber does not sell finished mulch, animal bedding or fuel. Our wood is the raw material behind them. What we sell is pallets, new and recycled.

Where every board ends up

A pallet has more than one life. Here is the whole path, from your dock to the last one.

  1. It comes in

Broken pallets, cutoffs, plywood and crates arrive from our customers and from our own repair line.

  2. We save what we can

Anything repairable goes back out as a recycled pallet. Reuse beats recycling every time, and it is the cheapest pallet we sell.

  3. The rest goes out to be ground

Wood past saving leaves our yard by the load and is ground into clean wood fiber.

  4. It ends up useful

That fiber becomes mulch, animal bedding or biomass fuel. Nothing is landfilled.

Wood fiber products

Three places our wood goes

Mulch

Landscape beds, trails and play areas. Chips ground for mulch are heavy enough to stay where they are put instead of blowing across a parking lot in a Midwest wind.

Animal bedding

Wood shavings pull moisture and odor out of a stall between cleanings. They also give an animal something softer than concrete to stand on, which is easier on muscles and joints.

Boiler fuel and biomass

Wood burned to make heat and electricity. Biomass sits beside wind, solar and hydro as a renewable source, and wood scrap is one of the cheapest forms of it.

Why it matters to you

What this means if you buy pallets from us

The recycling is not a side project. It is the reason a broken pallet is worth money to us instead of costing you money.

  • Your broken pallets stop being a bill

For most loads we pay you instead of charging you. Sorted, neatly stacked 48 × 40 GMA pallets earn the top rate.

  • Nothing lands on a landfill ticket

If your company reports waste diversion, the pallets you hand us are not part of the number you have to explain.

  • One truck, one trip

Good pallets come off, your broken ones go on. You are not scheduling two vendors to keep one dock clear.

Straight answers

Do you sell mulch, animal bedding or biomass?
No. We supply the wood that becomes them, and we sell pallets. If you need bulk mulch or bedding, a landscape supply yard is the place to call.
What happens to a pallet you cannot repair?
It is taken apart for any boards still worth using, and the rest goes out to be ground into wood fiber. Nothing is landfilled.
Can I send you wood that is not pallets?
Often yes — plywood, particle board, crates and loose wood. Tell us what you have and how much, and we will quote the pickup before the truck comes.
Do you charge to take wood away?
It depends what it is. We pay for 48 × 40 GMA pallets and often pay for other odd sizes too, depending on the count and the grade. Very odd sizes we usually haul free or for a small fee, and wood that is beyond repair is quoted as a disposal fee. You get the number up front either way.
